Becoming a little more open minded thanks to a motel stay

I know they still place Gideon bibles in motel rooms, but this is a new twist. I was staying at a motel that had a stack of Bhagavad Gitas in the lobby.

My curious nature couldn’t resist picking one up. Plus the Hindus I met are the most humblest people I ever met.

Plus if you really have faith, then you shouldn’t fear anything that opens your mind up a little. Especially if you are confident of what you believe.

Not every Christian who professes to know God actually does. Likewise the church can’t really assume that every non-Christian is lost.

God works in mysterious ways right?

I’ll take it a step further:

What if Krishna is sanskrit for Christ?

The Christ is a title for an annointed person. The angelic being who appeared throughout the Old Testament was a Christ figure. The Christ lived through Jesus (not even his real name) during his short life on earth.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, anybody who walks in the Light of the Divine for any length of time will inevitably become a Christ figure.

Nectar of the gods

It has been a long held debate on whether there is one God or many. The Abrahamic faiths hold to the fact that there is only one. This is why people have problems with the Trinity. Hinduism is believed to be polytheistic, though I read a piece by Deepak Chopra on Huffington Post where he said that Hindus believe in one God but they acknowledge all the false gods as well.

There are many gods in the world. Most of them are antichrist and don’t lead to the one true God which is reflected in those who walk in the Light and follow the Way. There are 7 billion people in the world and each person basically has their own unique perception of God. Atheists don’t necessarily disbelieve in God, they just reject the authority of the established church.

I wouldn’t be surprised if more atheists had faith in the Creator than people who sit in church pews. There are many atheists who follow Jesus. Since only the Divine knows the heart, we cannot judge who God has mercy on and “saves”. God is bigger than any religion.

People usually do their own thing and they always create a god that justified this. People have high standards, so they create a God with high standards, thus the need for a sacrifice. Jesus may have sacrificed His life but it was more voluntary than a substitutionary atonement.

True wisdom comes from a reverence for the Divine. It doesn’t matter than name, especially since names evolve over time and get corrupted. The Bible is a collection of ancient writings from centuries ago. Back then different groups were borrowing from each other; i.e, hebrews, hindus, egyptians, etc. We would have never heard of the ancient hebrew writings if some group called the Turkish Mongolians hadn’t invaded these lands and confiscated their scriptures and build a religion around them; first Judaism and then Christianity which was stolen from Judaism and turned Jesus into a god.

Jesus said only God was good. He didn’t claim to be God. But He lived in such close union with the Divine, being the chosen messenger for the ancient Hebrews that he led an exemplary life. No one is able to follow the law of God so perfectly so the next best thing is just make them a god and worship them; after they kill them and all the other prophets .

How to break out of prison

Romans 2:28-29. . .”“Who are Jews but those who have received the circumcision of the heart?”

I have to confess that in recent years I have found more spiritual fulfillment from sites like Chabad.  I experienced more spiritual growth since I became interested in Judaism a few years ago. This is not surprising since it is the parent to Christianity. It goes without saying that the most spiritual Christians just refer to themselves as Judeo-Christians.

That being said, I tried attending a few Messianic congregations only to find that there was too much “Christianity” in it. You will better understand this when you come to understand the difference between following the Christ and following the religion built around the Messiah.

In more recent years I discovered that I didn’t have to attend a Messianic church. I could just study Judaism on my own. I can also find the most spiritual congregations who are in touch with their Jewish roots. Even Paul said we are all spiritual Jews.

In one of the posts on Chabad that I read this week, it was saying that the best way to escape a prison cell was to make yourself small.  This is a great analogy for life which can seem like a prison.

Actually the material world is a prison. Our divine selves are actually free spirits. This is why we often feel trapped by the burdens placed on us by society.  Society will make us feel like we have some kind of moral obligation to produce and earn a higher income (making us economic slaves). It is even worse when the church does it because it perverts the message of Christ.

The humble, simple life is a high calling in scripture. The more you know God, the more you know yourselves. The more you realize where true wealth lies.  Rich and poor are relative terms.

The material world is hell. This is the only hell that exists is the ones humans create by making life complicated and stressful.

Living intentionally keeps you more focused on the Divine.

There is nothing wrong in and of itself with being materially ambitious. Even James, the half-brother of Jesus, talked about remaining humble in your high position. You can be as wealthy as you are driven to in the material world. Just don’t get too attached to it because this is when it borders on idolatry.

Pursue your dreams. Build an empire. Create all the wealth you want. Just remember to hold it with an open hand and to give back to humanity everything you have been blessed with. Actually if you don’t give back, the government will get ahold of it through taxes. Another reason why one is better off being poor, because if you really believe in divine providence then poverty doesn’t really exist and is completely man made.

Reasons to throw away the gift of life

The biggest irony I have discovered since reading the works of the mystics and Gnostics the last few years is in following the Christ right out of Christianity. This happens when you actually read the book most churches claim to believe in with an open mind, not taking everything too literally if you understand symbolism.

A world without end

When you read the Bible with a 1st century mindset you discover that all of God’s promises have been fulfilled during the time they were given. In more than one place in the book of Revelation it says “soon must come to pass.” Granted history does have a way of repeating itself so whatever happened during the 1st century can easily happen again now.

The earth never ends. But it seems to start over every 2000 years when man gets too corrupt. Don’t worry about Operation Depopulation. The righteous who follow The Way will always be “left behind” to repopulate. With over seven billion people, only a tiny fraction of us need to reproduce to keep humanity going.

Putting things in perspective

Life is not hard but the ways of the world are. This is why the Bible says true religion lays in not being corrupted by the world; aka overcoming it through faith in a Supreme being or higher power. Life is a gift though it doesn’t seem like it. If you are not attached to anything in the material world, then you hold it with an open hand. Then you are likely to be more generous and experience true divine wealth which is greater than money. (Money and wealth are not the same thing since the former is just a means to an end).

No such thing as balance: Just a right focus

You cannot balance the material and spiritual world because life is spiritual only. People claim they don’t have time to be spiritual but when you make time for what is important to you, life naturally balances itself out. They say there is no such thing as balance because if you are balanced, then you are poor. It is true that if you exercise self control and don’t overindulge you may look poor by the world’s standards.

So if God is good and is love, then why would people reject this “God”? The tree of life is resting in divine providence while the tree of knowledge is materialism. Ever wonder why knowledge is so endless and frustrating and causes anxiety and other mental health issues?

Welcome to the minority

Jesus said the road was narrow. Perhaps one benefit to overpopulation is we have more people following the Way than ever before, even if it’s only 20%. People are too attached to all life has to offer (which are not bad in an of themselves). Some people are merely just trying to keep up and don’t want to be ostracized by their peers (which is still attachment).

Also acknowledging the spiritual world promotes duality, which most people can’t handle. If there is good, there has to be evil. If there are rich people, then there will always be more poor people. Poverty is created when greedy people strive to become rich. There is nothing wrong with being rich is you use it to serve others, so we can’t judge “prosperity” preachers because there is an element of truth to it.

There is such a thing as freewill

Also most people have a determinist outlook on life, that is they believe we don’t have freewill and that everything is preordained. This led to Calvinism, believing that God only saves a few and damns the rest. The polar opposite is God will save all (universalism.

I guess you have to be spiritually enlightened to understand free will. Marriage is a union of the Divine with humanity. Earthly marriages represent this. Marriage takes two people consenting, so this way you can easily refute Calvinism.

If there is no free will, then there is no freedom. The theme of the New Testament is freedom; where the spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. To reject freedom is to reject God. To reject individuality in favor of collectivism is to reject freedom, which leads us to become more dependent on the group; this is why we are becoming more entrenched i socialism everywhere. Capitalism represents man’s freedom to exchange and isn’t entirely about money.

In closing, universalists, mystics and preterists think the Gospel of the Kingdom will be more appealing when you realize that hell and the second coming are man made myths to control people, while in actuality the religion will decline.

Final thoughts on what really matters

If God is so loving, why would so few seek it? Maybe the obvious answer is because we are too full of ourselves and would rather try to be God. This is the original sin. Every other “sin” just represents this. The only sin is lack of trust.

You don’t need a God for the Infinite to exist. “He” exists on “His” own. But true wisdom comes from reverence (the biblical meaning of fear) for the Divine. That wisdom will direct your path and lead us to make the right choices. God doesn’t want to control our lives. We are responsible for ourselves. He doesn’t need our worship, but worship is merely acknowledging the Divine and benefits us more than Him by keeping our lives in balance.

Love is salvation but without loving God first our love for ourselves and others will merely become a selfish attempt to make ourselves into a god.

When all else fails, you can still value yourself

Today’s inspirational quote comes from the great modern day Philosopher, Kurt Cobain: “I would rather be hated for who I am than hated for who I am not.”

Maybe that philosophy is why so many artists, entertainers, and musicians achieve worldly success and then end up committing suicide. Because they realize people only love them for who they think they are and not for who they really are; that is, once they take the time to get to know them.

The secret to success in the material world is to produce something of value in the world. Money is mainly a medium of exchange but it is also a measure of value. Some of the things that the world values though would make me feel as if I was selling my soul if I catered to that.

The more prosperous society gets, the more shallow it tends to get. Just follow contemporary music and the education and healthcare system. It becomes more about money and less about quality. But it still sells.

And this is evolution? More like going backwards.

When all else fails, if no one values you then you can still value yourself as a human being. This means you will have to be confident of your own individualism enough to reject the overpowering collective mindset.

It will be worth it in the end.
