Judges 21:25. . ."In those days there was no king in Israel, everyone did what was right in his own eyes." I was listening to a book I rarely listen to in my Scourby bible app; the Book of Judges. I should add that I love listening to audiobooks these days, it's like having someone read to me as a little child again. It is also kind of relaxing if you get someone with a soothing voice. Alexander Scourby is one of those people. It can be hard to concentrate this way, especially since I have a tendency to fall asleep listening t audiobooks. The book of Judges was that interim period after Moses and Joshua led the Israelites to the promised land and before the kingdom of Israel was set up. In those days they were ruled by judges, although I would use the term "rule" loosely. As the last verse summarizes, everyone did what was right in their own eyes because there was no king. The Constitutional Foundation for the United States No wonder our founding fathers felt the Bible was a good book for the foundation of a free republic and the American Constitution. A true Republican believes in everyone taking personal responsibility for their own lives. This is the basis on how to live in a free society. Democracy is an illusion because elections tend to be rigged. Also, the basis for Democracy is electing someone to rule over you. The result of Democracy is more government dependency which is reflected in higher taxes. The basis for a Theocracy is rule by God. Obviously, God already rules over everything, though He leaves us the freewill to rule our own lives. No one likes a Theocracy because you usually have an elite group of "rulers." Although you have an elite group, aka the "1%", each person has the authority to rule over their lives. In a Theocracy, each person can be led by the Spirit of God directly if they choose to follow Him. A verse in the book of Psalms says "righteousness exalts a nation but sin brings a reproach to its people." Democracy leads to socialism which leads too laziness and dependency, which is the sin this verse it talking about. Why Democracy is bad and eventually fails Democracy is valued by intellectuals who cherish cooperation over competition. However, most of them don't understand how the world works or even human nature for that matter. The basis for the New World Order is trying to bring in world socialism. If the economy is collapsing, it is just the socialism that is collapsing. Socialism is doomed to fail and eventually leads back to a freer society. Democracy doesn't really value individual freedom and is more secular, which makes it an antichrist kingdom. It is nothing more than mob rule over the individual. Everything social democrats strive for can be found within a free society in their nonprofit sector. Or at least that has been my observation from living in more conservative societies. For example, the universal healthcare in "red states" was provided at local county hospitals. Just to reiterate, Democracy doesn't really exist because society doesn't really exist. It is just a group of individuals who feel the need to vote for someone to have authority over them. The only real authority is the Most High who lavishes wisdom on all who seek it. We really don't need rulers but will always have a government out of convenience; it helps when it comes to enforcing contracts within the illusion of "society". Republicans and Democrats are both socialists to some degree. The former leans more toward greater individual sovereignty and more limited government. Although since both political parties in the U.S. have sold us out in some form or another, the Right is more the lesser of two evils since being sold out to corporate interests is better than becoming a slave to the government.

Idolizing the government: Separation of Church and State

I love the Strong’s Concordance. I learned enough about the definitions of words in the Bible to get me kicked out of church. For example, the definition of Grace is “a divine influence upon the heart that is manifested in the life.” The word charismatic just means grace motivated. Too bad some charismatics end up promoting a prosperity gospel into making this about material wealth (which is not bad in and of itself.).
I was reading 1 Corinthians 6 one day, you know verse 9 where it says “homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven”? At least in the new translations. Just like in the book of revelations where the newer translations say “sexual immorality”, the older translations just say “fornication”. The latter meaning is perversion of something (porneo in Greek) and not necessarily about sex. Religious zealouts pervert the law by trying to follow it without understand the spiritual meaning is about loving God and our neighbor.
Spiritual adultery is not trusting in God which leads to an enslavement to materialism.
The older word is 1 Corinthians 6:9 for homosexuals is “effeminate”. The meaning of this word is “soft”. How else do you explain why Paul started the chapter off talking about people suing each other? The people of the day were becoming soft and enslaved to the elite, or 1% of their day. Cross reference this with Proverbs 28:1 where it says “the righteous are as bold as lions” and a verse towards the end of Revelations where it says “the cowardly will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Separation of Church and State is one of the foundations for the Amerian Constitution. Though it has never came to fruition. Evangelical Christianity, or the Christian Right, aligns itself with the Republican Party and even Zionists in an attempt to build a man made kingdom or Theocracy. This didn’t work when the Catholic Church had a Theocracy, it won’t work with Protestants. The Kingdom of God is already here for those that walk in truth and already established because it belongs to God and needs to building up, just an awareness that it is within.
The Christian Left is the polar opposite and doing just as much damage. And they wonder why Libertarian types don’t get into politics much. It’s hypocritical for the Right to say they are against Democracy yet think your vote matters. Democracy looks good on paper but can never exist in this world and only seems to result in more taxes and regulation and less freedom.
God told His people in 1st Samuel that they don’t need a ruler. Anarchy begins to make more sense since it involves taking full responsibility for ourselves and not being dependent on a system.
I have generally felt less patriotic the last few years. Nationalism is basically idolatry. Once you realize all nations become corrupt and the kingdom of God isn’t bound by any boundaries, then you realize it’s all built on a lie.
Righteousness exalts a nation

“Righteousness exalts a nation. But sin is a disgrace to the people.”-Psalm 14:34
In my daily reading of the One Year Bible, I was reading Jeremiah 22. The first thing that stood out is why God allows suffering and bad things to happen. From other passages in the Word, we learn that it’s a result of the curse God put on the world as a result of man’s sin nature and independent self-will. We suffer because we have forsaken the covenant with God our Father and pursued other gods.
Now I will go into the heretic zone. Buddha is known for saying that suffering comes from attachment. The New Testament teaches us that one of the fruits of the spirit is self-control.
Materialism is more than money. It’s all things pertaining to matter. Forsaking life’s most important relationship with the Divine makes us slaves to materialism when we try to fill the void with earthly things. This explains why so many people in western culture are so obsessed with work these days.
Being too overly attached to the decaying things of this world will cause much suffering. We can enjoy the things of the world without getting too attached. But only if we seek first the Kingdom of God.
Maybe a theocracy is the best form of government. Not necessarily rule by the church. Human institutions become too corrupt. The more people who walk with God and put Him first, the more a nation exalts itself.
As one of my former roommates said, it doesn’t matter who wins elections in politics as long as we put God first. Exalting people like Obama or Trump like I have seen much of the country do the past few years is basically idol worship. Especially when people actually say either one of these or any other political figure is our only hope.
We invite suffering in when we eat too much of the tree of knowledge (materialism). We overcome this by eating of the tree of Life and living life from God on a daily basis.
